Facebook has really cracked down on advertising using a Facebook account as opposed to paying Facebook to run ads on banners over their ad network. There have been some reports of recent that Facebook has banned some popular people when they did nothing wrong. Of course that's only one side of the conversation but it appears that with the maximum friends limit in place and some of their recent moves, it is clear that Facebook, while gaining in popularity, is falling off as a viable social marketing tool for marketers. Basically, Facebook appears to be moving towards a business model that says if you're a marketer, don't set up an account with us and then add friends so they ad you back. Instead, pay us to run ads on our website else we will eventually ban you.
